WE ENVISION
a New Orleans with a strong Solidarity Economy Movement:
where Black, Brown, and Indigenous New Orleanians–fueled by the inherent brilliance, bravery and audacity of our ancestors– sustainably own our own labor and mentor each other on the collective and equitable governance of resources such as: food, care, land, and culture.

Las cooperativas provienen de la práctica Negra e Indígena del trabajo colectivo para satisfacer necesidades colectivas. La cooperación puede consistir en el cuidado de niñes comunitario, alimentarnos unes a otres, agrupar nuestros recursos para satisfacer nuestras necesidades, practicar la ayuda mutua en nuestra vida cotidiana o ante una catástrofe, ser propietaries de nuestro propio trabajo a través de una empresa cooperativa, etcétera. Ponemos en marcha prácticas cooperativas en nuestra vida cotidiana.
Como trabajadores, corremos continuamente el riesgo de ser aprovechades por nuestro actual sistema capitalista, que valora el fruto de nuestra labor por encima de nuestra humanidad como trabajadores, integrantes de una comunidad, integrantes de una familia y portadores de una cultura.
Los negocios y proyectos cooperativos utilizan prácticas que nuestras comunidades han venido utilizando durante siglos, junto con los 7 Principios Cooperativos para permitir a les trabajadores tener la propiedad de su trabajo, y al final, cuidar de sí mismes y de les demás.
Cooperación Nueva Orleans busca apoyar la creación y el apoyo continuo a las cooperativas propiedad de les trabajadores. Una cooperativa propiedad de les trabajadores es una empresa en la que las personas que trabajan para ella son les dueñes de la misma. A diferencia de un negocio no cooperativo, no hay une únique patróne a cargo de todas las decisiones. En su lugar, un grupo de trabajadores dueñes trabajan juntes para tomar decisiones y dirigir el negocio.
